Best camera lenses 2018

It’s time to talk about lenses. The Best camera lenses 2018

Before going forward, please make sure you have read through the right post suited to you, whether you are a beginner, amateur  or professional photographer.

Each post gives a detailed description of Point & Shoot and DSLR cameras suited to the different photography skills.

For a while I was debating on how to do this post. I had listed three cameras in the previous post and was wondering what would be the best way of presenting this.

In the previous post, I recommend these three cameras.

Beginner – Canon EOS 1300D

Amateur – Canon EOS 750D

Professional – Canon EOS 5D Mark IV

In this post I will discuss the best lens suited for each camera. You will find most if not all these lenses I recommend are compatible with each camera.

That being said if you are a beginner or photography for you is only a hobby, you won’t want to buy the most expensive lens going.

If you are a professional, you may want the best lens which happens to be the most expensive. You may also want to get a cheaper version as well for those situations where you don’t want to run the risk of damage or theft.

Another reason to go for the cheaper lens is if you want the chance to experiment, to test an image before trying it with the better lens.

One of the best reasons though to buy the absolute best lenses especially if you see yourself going pro, is these lenses will be useful when you upgrade your camera.

From experience, it’s usually the camera body you upgrade more than lenses.

So hopefully this post will be suited for all camera lovers who just want to find the perfect lens for them.

When I bought my first camera, I did choose the cheaper versions just to make sure it was something I was going to keep using. Some might like the expensive stuff but still only travel with the cheaper lenses as you just don’t want to take the risk.

Whatever your decision you will find all the information you need on here.

Right so what type of lenses are available.

  • Macro
  • Portrait
  • Zoom
  • Wide-Angle
  • Kit lens

Firstly you probably already own a kit lens, especially if you bought a Canon EOS 1300D or 750D. These usually come standard as the EF -S18-55mm which is a good lens for a lot of shots.

But let’s remember you are travelling and you want to get the very best images possible so you will definitely need more than one lens.

Macro Lens

Macros lenses are great to have, good for close up photography and close up portraits. I have used a macro lens mostly for shooting flowers, insects but everyone has a different vision so you may find something better. On my trip I did come across a few butterflies, insects, flowers, ideal for a macro lens.

For this I would recommend:

Canon EOS 1300D: Complete lens filter Accessory kit

Best Camera lenses 2018

I would have to recommend this for any beginner , amateur or even pro for that matter.

This kit comes with many different attachments, will keep you busy for a while to try and test them all out.

The Kit includes 3 piece ND filter set which help reduce the amount of light. Can also help enable slower shutter speeds.

You also get a close up filter kit which includes 4 filters increasing magnifications.  I use these myself as I never had enough money to get a macro.

BUY NOW  (Also can be used with 750D & 5D Mark IV)

Kit also includes a filter kit which protects your lens from scratches, removes fingerprints and absorbs ultra violet rays which give a sharper contrast.

Rubber lens hood, also very useful and can be extended for use with a telephoto lens.

Lens hood to prevent flares, you know those annoying circles of light that end up in some images.

An extra lens cap, always useful as they are easy to lose.

And last but not least, something every photographer should have, a microfiber cleaning cloth.

At the price this is, you would have to be silly not to buy it. I highly recommend it even if you’re a professional as some of these will come in handy.

Even comes with pack to keep it all in.

Canon EOS 750D

So now if you want a proper lens instead of the screw on ones, then you should look at something like this.

Canon EF 100 mm f/2.8 Macro USM Lens

Best Camera lenses 2018With this you will be able to capture the detail in the wing of butterfly or a flower bud. Experiment with a lot of close up photography and see what you can come up with. Not only is it a great macro lens but can also be used for great portrait photography. This is ideal if you want to save some money on buying one lens instead of two.  If you want to get great photos of bugs, but don’t want to get too close, then this is also great.

Portrait Lens

Guess what these lenses are great for….Portrait obviously. You probably have seen those images where you get a photo of someone and the background is blurred. The person in the shot is in focus with a nice blur background. This gives you a great image and is often referred to as being bokeh.

Try to remember that word as you plan on learning more about photography.

Here is an example of a bokeh image done with my dog.

For this I would recommend:

Canon EOS 1300D

Canon EF 50 mm 1.8 STM Lens
